Young Hong Kong violinist Tze Hin Kelvin Ng has performed in some prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Duke’s Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre. An active orchestral player, Kelvin has performed with numerous orchestras in Hong Kong, including the Inheritage Philharmonic, the Opera Hong Kong and the Ponte Orchestra, and he served as concertmaster for the La Salle College Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra of Hong Kong and the Chung Chi Orchestra.
During his stay at the Royal Academy of Music, Kelvin has performed in orchestra projects under the baton of Edward Gardner, John Wilson, Ryan Bancroft, and Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider and received coaching sessions from world-class musicians such as Rachael Podger and Igor Yuzefovich. He also performed in masterclasses of world-renowned violinists Rodney Friend, Pavel Vernikov and Svetlana Makarova. Whilst based in Hong Kong, Kelvin worked with maestro Jahja Ling, Paul Silverthorne, Edward Auer and Thomas Robertello. Kelvin is also a dedicated chamber musician, as he performed at the Wigmore Hall with the Meraki Quartet in 2024 and played Mendelssohn Octet alongside the award-winning Cong Quartet in 2020. Moreover, Kelvin also participated in the Schiermonnikoog Festival with the Meraki Quartet in 2024, where he had masterclasses with Marc Danel.
Now based in London, Kelvin is pursuing his M.A. in Violin Performance at the Royal Academy of Music, under the tutelage of Nicholas Miller, with generous support from the Royal Academy of Music, the C.F. Hu Postgraduate Memorial Scholarship, and The Loan Fund for Musical Instruments. Prior to this, Kelvin obtained his B.A. in Music, with first-class honour, at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, majoring in violin performing and minoring in viola. His past teachers include Hong-Ying Ho, Nicolette Moonen, Yuko Inoue and Joseph Kam.
Kelvin currently plays an antique violin made by Johannes Theodorus I Cuypers in 1780, generously loaned by the Royal Academy of Music.
